FREEDOM DAWNS
GREEK LIBERATION "Most Of German Forces Are Now In The Bag" N.Z. Press Association—Copyright Rec. noon. LONDON, Sept. 7. Reuters correspondent in Cairo says the Greek Government, through the Prime Minister, M. George Papandreou, has sent a message to the Greek people saying: "The days of hardship have ended and freedom is dawning." "Most of the German forces in Greece are now in the bag," says the Daily Telegraph correspondent in Cairo. "Some may escape northward through Albania, but the way out of Salonika through Skoplje has been rendered difficult by the Allied and Partisans' air and land • operations, plus Bulgaria's defection. "The German troops in Greece and the Aegean Islands alone are believed to amount to six divisions," the correspondent adds, "but they lack an air force and are in danger of being caught between the hammer and the anvil now that the Red Army is moving through the Balkans."
