RAIDS OVER FRANCE Battle Area And Railway Targets British Official Wireless •rugby, Aug. 2. The Royal Air Force made three separate escorted attacks on targets in France in daylight last evening. Lancasters attacked railway junctions at Laroche, 70 miles beyond Paris. This is a railway key point through which reinforcements have been passing to the battle area, not only from Germany but also from the south' of France. This is an important junction of greater value to the Germans than it would normally have • been. Seventy-five miles to the northeast of Laroche other Lancasters attacked the railway tunnel between Epernay and Rheims, used by the Germans as a store for flying bombs. Many 12,0001b bombs were carried and so aimod as to cause not only the collapse of the cutting at each end but also to destroy both entrances of the tunneL ........ '
