MANPOWER BREACHES
EMPLOYERS PROSECUTED
A charge of employing a waitress without the consent of the district manpower officer to engage her v-as admitted by Denzell Ardell, licensee of the Waverley Hotel (Mr. Terry), when he appeared before Mr. J. Morling, S.M., yesterday. The prosecution was the first under the new employment restriction order. Mr. I. F. Kronfeld, representing the manpower officer, said that the waitress, who had been prosecuted for having left her previous employment without the consent of the manpower officer, admitted that she had worked under an assumed name. When interviewed, the defendant accepted responsibility for tne breach and expressed regret. A fine of £3 was imposed. A plea of not guilty was entered bv the Northern Roller Mills, Ltd. (Mr. Wheaton), to a charge of committing a breach of the regulations by employing, without the pei mission of the manpower officer, a person whose last continuous employment for a period of more than seven davs was in an essential undertaking and was terminated by the worker. The company was fined £1, witn 10/ costs, for the offence.
