HEAVY SUPPLIES OF GREENS Heavy supplies of kumaras, carrots, pumpkins, cabbage and cauliflower were on the city markets to-day. Both potatoes and onions were in short supply. There was a good demand for local sweet oranges. Hothouse tomatoes were rather slow of sale. There was a fair demand for tree tomatoes of good quality. Large, choice quality New Zealand marmalade grapefruit were selling at ceiling prices; small and others, according to sample. A good demand existed for hothouse grapes. Prices were:— Fruit.—Tomatoes: Hothouse. 1/6 to 2/6 per lb: smooth, small. 6d to 1/. Oranges, local, sweet. 27/6 per case. Tree Tomatoes: New Black. 14/ to 21/ per case: yellow, 16/ to 18/; small, 9/ to 12/. N.Z. Marmalade Oranges, choice. 17/6 per case; small and others, 10/ to 16/. Lemons, Meyer. 7'6 to 11/ per Grapes: Hothouse— Gros Colman. 4/6 ro 6/11 per lb; seconds, 3/6. Chinese Gooseberries. 12/ to 22/6 per case. Cape Gooseberries, 1' per lb. Passion Fruit, 10/ to 20/ per case. No. 2. Vegetables.—Beet. 2/ to 4/ per case. Celery: Cooking, 1/ to 2/ per bundle; dessert, 2/6 to of. Carrots, 2/6 to 7 6 per bag. Cauliflowers. 8/ to 15/ per sack. Cabbages, 2.6 to 10/ per sack. Kumaras, 4/ to 7/6 per bag. Leeks, 1/ to 1/6 per bundle. Lettuce, 3/ to 13/ per case. Melons, 3/ to 4/ per sack. Onions, 18/ to 19/6 per cwt. Potatoes: Southern, 10 6 to 13/ per cwt; Ohakune, 13/6. Pumpkins: Choice Crown and Triumble, 7/ to 14/; medium and mixed. 2/6 to 5/. Parsnips, 20/ per cwt. P-adish, 2/ to 3/ per doz. Rhubarb. 3/ to 7/ per doz. Spinach, 2/6 to 6/6 per case. Spring Onions. 1/3 to 2/ per bundle. Swedes, 2/ to 4/ per bag. Turnips, 2/ to 3/6 per case. Brussels Sprouts, 6d to lOd per lb.
