TROTTING INCIDENT
ALLEGED INTERFERENCE FRESH EVIDENCE PRODUCED (0.C.) HAMILTON 1 , this day. Mr. B. McCarthy, of Hawera, president of the Hawera Trotting Club and a member of the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association, was in Hamilton this week hearing evidence on behalf of the association in connection with alleged interference in the Libj'a Handicap at the Easter patriotic meeting here. An inquiry was held on the day of the meeting into the alleged interference of Heliopolis, driven by G. McKendry ; by Cyone Maid, driven by F. J. Smith. The case was dismissed by the judicial stewards, after which Mr. W. L. Mackie, owner of Heliopolis, appealed to the New Zealand Trotting Association against this decision. The matter will now be referred back to the association, in view of fresh evidence produced, for further consideration.
