MIDDLE EAST SUPPLY

NEW ZEALAND DIRECTOR

A New Zealand Rhodes Scholar, Dr. E. E. Bailey, is now deputydirector of the Middle East Supply Council. Earlier in the year he presided at the opening, in Cairo, of an agricultural conference attended by more than 100 delegates and observers representing 12 territories of the Middle East.

Dr. Bailey, who is a son of Mrs. F. E. Bailey, of Otahuhu, was chosen Rhodes Scholar in 1929. In 1932 he came back to New Zealand, but re- . turned in 1933 to London, where he practised law until two years ago. He was then selected for the position in Middle East Supply Mission, with headquarters in Cairo. His law office and staff have been taken over for the duration of the war by a well-known firm of city solicitors, j with whom he worked for three years before setting up his own office. J
