SPORT IN SCHOOLS
I wish to draw attention to the practice in some of our secondary schools of including in their annual championships the hop, step and jump for girls. I understand that this form of sport is definitely banned by all athletic association's'as being detrimental to women, yet adolescents (from any age up to 16 years) are encouraged to compete in this event. May 1 solicit the opinions of those qualified to judge the wisdom of including the hop, step and jump in sports for girls? Also, why is there no inter-school sports day for girls? One has only to observe their keen interest at any annual school sports to be assured there would he no lack of enthusiasm for such an event. PA I!LN'T.
