TOURNEY CANCELLED

The Easter hard-court tournament of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association will not be held this year owing to the shortage of balls and the bad condition of the equipment at Windmill Road. This decision was reached at the monthly meeting of delegates last evening. The inter-club committee reported that a net profit of £10 had been made on the Caro Bowl final day. The winners of the various grades this season were:—Caro Bowl: Open grade, Eden and Epsom; first grade, Eden, and Epsom: Junior grade. West End. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association advised that a capitation of \zd a member would bo levied this year. It was decided that the association would not pass this charge on to the clubs.

The Fergusson Park Tennis Club was granted permission to enter into the Jordan Cup local competition, which included unaffiliated clubs. The veterans' tournament entries were stated to closc to-morrow, play to begin at noon on Thursday, March 16.
