FAMOUS JOCKEY DEAD
One of the greatest riders in the history of racillE in New Zealand, and at the heart of his profession in the late nineties and (ho beginning of this century, died at Hamilton at the week-end. lhis was Charles Jenkins, whose name was a household word in the days of Advance. He Ch V a a Hes ge jenkins headed the winning iockevs' list on several occasions, and lie was associated with the famous racehorse Advance in all his important victories in the Dominion and in Australia. Among many important races lie won were the Now Zealand Cup on Tortu la, Auckland Cup on All Red (twice) Wei; lington Cup on Achilles, and the Stewaids Handicap on Equitas.
