WEST COAST FLOODS

(0.C.) GREYMOUTH, Friday. Rainfall at Greymouth in the 24 hours ending 9 o'clock this morning was 3.40 in, compared with 3.52 in on February 10. There was a good deal of surface flooding in various parts of Greymouth, while small streams were in high flood. The Otira Gorge highway has again fared badly and was blocked for a fourth time in five weeks since January 17. The Public Works Department advised to-day that a slip had descended at Rocky Point, near Aickens, and that the highway would be closed until to-morrcw at the least.
