THEFT OF A UKULELE "The offence was committed in January, 1937. seven years ago," said Detective-Sergeant Trethewey, in the Police Court this morning when Frederick Herbert Jack Bilham. aged 28 (Mr. A. Moody), pleaded guilty to theft of a ukulele. The instrument had been taken from a car parked in the city, and accused had sold it the following day for 15/ to a secondhand dealer. When interviewed by the police, he had promised to call at the station the following day, but had not done so, and was arrested last night by Detective-Sergeant Power. The Justices, Messrs. Patterson and Stratford, convicted and discharged accused and ordered him to reimburse the second-hand dealer to the amount of 15/.
