(P A ) TAURANGA, this (lay. The final of the Tauranga bowling tournament this morning between Young, Buckley, Carroll and Stewart (Matamata) and Sykes, Rule, Carson and Gardiner (Otahuhu), was won by Stewart 20 18. Gardiner soon established a lead, wh'ch he held to the nineteenth head, when Stewart took live to lead by three. a - diner added three on the twentieth to even the score, but Stewart scored two I on the final head to win. The game was close throughout, and Gardiner's team, which has played m Tauranga tournaments for the past J<> years! and has qualified on every occasion was unlucky to be defeated. The weather was fine, with the green holding for the first part of the game. rotorija pairs CONTEST.— Fifty-five teams have been accepted for the Rotorua Bowling Club's pairs contest, starting on Monday at the Government pounds! French, of Rotorua, are competing again. NORTHLAND VETERANS. —The 12th annual meeting of the Northland Bowling Veterans' Associationwas held in Whangarei. The annual tourney could not be held on account of the condition of greens. Officers elected were:—President, Mr. F. Cutforth; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. FenwfCK. (Paparoa), C. H. Jenkins (Paparoa), E. G. W. Tibbits (Whangarei). M. G. King (Whangarei); committee: Messrs. G. H. Morrish, A. H. Curtis, S. Hutchings, N. L. Gazzard, W. Smith, M. L. Staple; secretary and treasurer. Mr. W. J. Worthington; auditor, Mr. J. H. Marwick. The meeting decided to elect all members over 80 years oi age «is life-members.
