Mr. J. E. Broaclfoot, director of the Institute for the Blind, left last night for Wellington. Mr. P. A. Craig, of Auckland, has been appointed manager of the Dunedin branch of the Phoenix Assurance Company, Limited, and leaves for the south on Monday. Captain F. A. Macindoe, general secretary of the New Zealand Merchant Service Guild, will retire shortly. Captain Macindoe began his life at sea by joining the full-rigged ship Waimate at Auckland at the age of 14. Since then he has served in various ships all over the world, being for a' time engaged in landing stores for troops engaged in the South African War. He came to New Zealand as an oflicer in the employ of the Northern Steamship Company and became president of the Auckland Merchant Service Guild. Captain Macindoe has been general secretary of the New Zealand Merchant Service Guild since 1915.
