IN THE DAYS BEFORE TRUK WAS TURNED INTO A MAJOR NAVAL BAbE by the Japanese it was just one of those happy carefree islands of the Pacific. Here is the best "hotel" on one of the atolls. The guests slept on specially prepared platforms and an individual could surround his particular corner with nets or for privacy and protection from mosquitoes. There was always plenty of fresh air as the house was open on all sides.
