TALKS IN LONDON
MR. NASH AND MR. CHURCHILL, LONDON, Feb. 15. The chief purpose of the visit of the New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, to London, it is understood, is for important talks with Mr. Churchill. Mr. Nash already has met the Prime Minister twice since his arrival, and he conferred with Lord Cranborne, Secretary of State for the Dominions, this morning with reference to another meeting with Mr. Churchill. It is understood they will discuss what Mr. Nash referred to last week as "the best war job" New Zealand can do. Mr. Nash had a full round of engagements after his arrival, including an audience with the King at Buckingham Palace and a visit to No. 11 Group, Fighter Command, where he lunched with Air ViceMarshal H. "W. L. Saunders, Air Marshal Sir Arthur Coningham, and Lady Coningham. He later accompanied them to the control room and watched a big operation progressing. Mr. Nash also had talks with the deputy-Prime Minister, Mr. Attlee, Rear-Admiral Sir William Parry and Brigadier Hargest. He saw the Fabian Society exhibition, "World of Plenty," and listened to an address by Sir John Orr. One evening the New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr. Jordan, presided at a dinner at which Mr. Nash met the six New Zealand agriculturists who have been in Engiana for some time.
