LONG LEGAL CAREER
MR. P.'SPENCER DEAD HEAD OF AUCKLAND FIRM The death has occurred of Mr. Percy Spencer, principal of the legal firm' in Auckland of Spencer and Spencer for the past 40 years, and the oldest practising solicitor in Auckland. He was 83 years of age. Mr. Spencer came to New Zealand with his parents in 1860, and for some time lived at Parawai, Thames. He was educated at the Otago Boys' High School, and the original Auckland Grammar School, at Parnell. After leaving school he took up several occupations, and eventually studied and entered the legal profession. At one time Mr. Spencer was prominent in Auckland sport, being a member of the Grafton Rugby Football Club and a representative player. He was prominent in yachting. Mr. Spencer is survived by his widow, five sons and one daughter. The sons are Messrs. N. B. Spencer, H. P. Spencer, and H. N. Spencer, of Auckland, A. M. Spencer, now in England, and H. M. Spencer, of Auckland. The daughter is Miss H. Spencer, of Auckland. ! There are five grandchildren. The funeral will take place to-morrow at Purewa Cemetery.
