DEATH OF NURSE
JEEP STRIKES WALL
ACCIDENT ON WATERFRONT
Two nurses were injured, one fatally, when a jeep in which they were riding struck the stone wall on the seaward side of the Waterfront Road near the Kohimarama Wharf at 10 o'clock last night. They were:
Aleida Johanna Barbara Bonnie Smit, aged 22 years, of 1, Seccombe's Road, Point Chevalier, who died in hospital as a result of her injuries, and Ann Maud Alpin, aged 24, of Charles Street, Napier, who suffered concussion and facial injuries. Her condition to-day at the Auckland Hospital is serious.
When the jeep hit the wall the two nurses were thrown on to the hard stone beach 15 feet below.
Three other occupants of the jeep were not injured, as the vehicle, after striking the wall, skidded alongside it and swung back on to the road.
