CHILD'S BODY FOUND

fPjA.) WANGANUI, this day. The body of a male European child believed to be about five to ten days old was found on Monday afternoon by a railway surfaceman. It was about nine feet cut from the track three and a quarter miles north of Mangaweka which is 32 miles north of Marton Junction. The bodv was naked; and was that of a well nourished child, with dark brown hair and sharp features. The railway line is a considerable distance from the nearest road, and there is a possibility of the body having been thrown from the train on Saturday Sunday or Monday morning Be' tween Friday midnight and the finding of the body fifteen express trains passed through Mangaweka. Detectives from Wanganui are investigating. An inquest, opened to-dav before Mr. E. Loader, coroner was adjourned sine die.
