SEAMEN STRIKE

AUSTRALIA'S STRONG STAND CANBERRA, Dec. 21. The crews of nine ships in an Australian port who failed, to take their vessels to sea have been dismissed. Men thus dismissed immediately become liable for call-up in the armed services. The Commonwealth Government is stated to be determined to take a strong stand against the demands of seamen on strike. Officials are amazed by the holdups in view of the outcome of a recent meeting of seamen in Sydney, who voted by a majority of 210 votes to 15 to take all ships to sea. The strike, the cause of which has not been disclosed, originated in Melbourne, and extended to Sydney, where a number of the vessels are now delayed.
