AFTER THE BATTLE
M.P. Humphreys claims that the U.b.S.R. is a Socialist regime, ignoring the fact that the Soviet Government states it is an approach to Socialism. The principles of Socialism are inviolability of the person; political and civic rights, and justice by law. As none of these fundamentals of Socialism are existent in Russia, the claim of an approach to Socialism or its de facto existence falls to the ground. The Soviet is an Imperialism, as, under Czardom, it has enlarged its territories by the seizure of Turkestan, parts of' Mongolia, etc.; and of Finland after the outbreak of this war; it seized part of Poland and the Baltic States, and only disgorged under German attack. Socialism being only possible on a foundation of social justice and ethics, it will yet be apparent mat the Russian people have exchanged the tyranny of the Czars for a worse and more ruthless system. G. A. HUTCHINGS.
