CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
New Zealand Descendants. —At the monthly meeting of the New Zealand Descendants and Pioneers Club, Mrs. E. Johnston presided. A talk was given by Mrs. P. McFerran, who told of a voyage of 150 days on a sailing ship, when, as a child, she came to New Zealand with her parents. In contrast to -the present day. she said, many beautiful songs of New Zealand were universally sung in those days. A talk entitled "A Walk Through Auckland," given by Miss M. Spicer, took her listeners back to the time when the closely-built areas of to-day were almost rural. Christmas carols were enjoyed at the meeting. .
