VARIOUS TOPICS DISCUSSED

The programme for the final meeting of the year of the New Women's Club consisted of short speeches by club members. Mrs. Kay-Stratton told of her experiences In flying to Australia. Mrs. Clark spoke on women's Work and problems, with emphasis on equality of opportunity for* women with men, equal pay for equal work, and separate provision for children. Mrs. Woods' subject W as—the preferability of rating on the unimproved value rather than on the capital- value of ratepayers' property. Mrs. Gertrude Brooks demonstrated that the cause of war lay in faulty economic and social systems. Other speakers followed in discussion of these topics. The president, Mrs. J. P. Howden, presided.
