EMPEROR AND LOLOMA
Net profits shown by Loloma and Emperor mines (Fiji) for the years ending respectively on July 31 and June 30 have already been published, and further particulars are available from tho balance-sheets and reports. Gold won in tho last three years has been as follows: — Loloma: 1941, 45,15007,; 1942. 37,0390z: 1943. 17,7480z. Emperor: 1941, 52,5470z; 1942, 45.7660_; 1943. 41,0340z. The reports of both companies refer to the proposal made at the last, annual meeting that the Loloma and Emperor companies should amalgamate. So far the directors have not been able to formulate a satisfactory plan to submit to shareholders, but they hope to consider the matter when a more favourable opportunity occurs. Meanwhile a plan has been approved whereby the ore from both mines will bo treated by a combined milling plant. The cost of the mill reconstruction is estimated at £46,000.
