BACKWARD CHILDREN

The Christmas party given by friends to pupils of the Institute for the Care of Backward Children was held in the school, Belgium Street. The parents were entertained to afternoon tea by the committee, when Miss B. Carnachan, president of the institute, presented, on behalf of the committee, a reading lamp to the headmistress of the school, Mrs. L. Newman, formerly Miss M. Lang, who is leaving, following her marriage. Santa Claus distributed gifts to the children.
