Most Gigantic Operation Of British Railways TRAIN RATIONING IN LONDON Rec. '1.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 20. British railways are engage'd in the most gigantic transport operation ever undertaken, says the Daily Mail. The railways are moving troops, equipment and military supplies in preparation for the mounting of the full-scale second front, says the paper.
Lord Leathers Train rationing was introduced at London stations last Monday, after the greatest week-end traffic since the war began. Platforms were locked as soon as a tram load of Passengers had been admitted to the station People outside had to wait for the next train or return home The War Transport Minister, Lord Leathers, has ordered that railway traffic be dealt with in the following nrioritv (1) Troops and war supplies, f 2 ) mail and other freight; (3) passenger traffic.
