ELTHAM HOTEL
£12,000 SALE APPROVED
(0.C.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day
The sale of the Coronation Hotel at Eltham for £12,000 to two New Plymouth business men is the first transaction of the kind approved by the Taranaki Land Sales Committee. Sitting at New Plymouth, the committee also consented to a lease of the property.
The vendor was Mr. E. Crabtree, and the purchasers were Messrs. E. J. Ulander and P. E. Stainton. The price was made up of £4000 for the goodwill and license, £1250 for furniture and £6750 for the land and buildings, which included a cottage on the section owned by Mrs. Crabtree and valued at £4*5, making a total of £12,000.
The lease has been taken by Mr. R. W. A. Lewis for three years at a rental of £14 a week, plus £1264 10/6 for the furniture and fittings, and £654 2/3 for the wet and dry stock. The hearing was purely formal, the Crown raising no objection to either the sale or the lease.
