COMMUNITY CENTRES
YOUTH SERVICE AFTER AVAR
(P.A.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
Expressing the opinion that the establishment of community centres for the encouragement and development of music, drama, the higher forms of dancing, physical culture and arts and crafts, would be one of the finest and most useful public services that could be provided, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, said to-day that as a member of the Government he would give whatever assistance he could to carry out a comprehensive scheme of the kind.
"The people of to-day, whether they go in for physical culture, popular sport, amateur theatricals or the arts and crafts," added Mr. Parry, "need a centre where facilities and general equipment are at hand. Our city communities, in particular, would be better for spirited encouragement of this work, which would go a long way towards preventing misemployment of leisure."
