TE HINEMOA IS DUE

TE AWAMUTU CUP

KEEN RACE EXPECTED

FIELDS AND PROSPECTS

The presence of a number of Auckland Cup candidates in the Te Awamutu Cup, to be run at the Waipa races tomorrow, is bound to be a big attraction, and there is good reason to believe that a first-class contest will be witnessed.

Lord Chancellor is likely to be the favourite, even though he has 9.13 to carry and has to give away lots of weight to some smart horses over the distance. Gay Lally has all he is entitled to on his form this season, and, he, too, might find it difficult to beat some of those below him.

Dangerous lightweights are Te Hinemoa, Merry May and Water Vixen. Merry May finished ahead of Te Hinemoa in the recent Waikato Cup, but if the latter had not run wide entering the straight she would have been closer to the winner, Tweedsmuir, at the judge. Te Hinemoa is a sweet galloper, and makes a strong appeal with 7.1. Big fields are engaged, and there is a likelihood that the Waipa Plate will be run in three divisions. Among those in favour are:—

Waipa Plate—First division: Roianui bracket, Brome bracket. Second division: Banchory bracket, Diamond King bracket. Third division: Flowerburn bracket, Master Mischief bracket.

W. G. Park Hurdles.—Winning Tray, Wildore, Prince Rewa.

First Ohaupo Handicap. — Quination, Nepeta, Tavernsicie. Te Awamutu Cup.—Te Hinemoa, Lord Chancellor, Merry May-Water Vixen bracket

Second Ohaupo Handicap. — Fortune's Smile, Exeter, Laddie Boy.

Hack Cup.—Foxwyn, Grey Salute, St. Leon. Flying Handicap.—Sleepy Fox, Brief, RO &tr G angf Handicap.-Lady Reynard, Llandine, Foxola.
