CAROL CONCERT
The Lyric Harmonists' Choir concluded a most successful season with an enjoyable programme of Christmas carofs presented before a most appreciative ™> e "J r » the Town HafT Cancer! Chamber last evening. A wide range both of period and countrv of origin wn« covered. Included in the "English section was the Chester Carol, the earliest known English carol, as well as compositions by modern British composers. France Brittany, Flanders, Holland, Italy Germany and Russia, too, were all ren/-P----.sented by beautiful carols sung with delightful expression by a well-balanced ensemble of rich voices under the tasteful direction of Mr. Claude Laurie, solos being taken by James Bowman, Margaret Gow- Aileen Yeoman and Wilson Milliken Much additional interest was given to the performances by the Rev A G Naylor's explanatory remarks anil appropriate readings which linked together the various presentations. The nWru mental side of the concert was provided by the Ina Bosworth String quartet which was heard in the "Gavotte Air and Gigue," from Bach's "Suite in D Major" and in other arrangements for string's receiving warm applause.. The quartet nlnf Pr °M n TT al of the accompaniments. Mr. G R. Everiss was responsible for the modulation and arrangements and Mr. William Mardie was the pianoforte accompanist.
