CHILDREN'S TOYS
On behalf of many poor children of this city I would like to voice mv protest against the large amount of" profiteering prevailing amongst a section of shopkeepers in regard to the prices of children's wooden toys. Many of these toys are crudely put together and heavily camouflaged with paint to hide thendefects. Many mothers will find it very difficult to buy toys at Christmas for their children, and when I think that many of the fathers of the children are away fighting at the front, then I feel indignant that the children should be deprived ot a toy at Christmas through the selfish " action of a few shopkeepers. Surely at this season of the year it should not be possible that children cf poor homes should be deprived of a Christmas gift, which means so much, especially in the case of children from poor homes.
