COMMUNITY CENTRE

REQUEST FOR MORE SHOWERS (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The need for the Installation of four or five showers to supplement those already in use under the Auckland Community Welfare Centre at Freeman's Bay, has been stressed for the Government's consideration.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, stated to-day that urgent representations had been made to him for the meeting of the request on account of the increased number of persons, pakeha and Maori, requiring the use of the existing showers. The showers and facilities for their use now existing in Freeman s Bay were, added the Minister, a boon to workers and others, and representations for additional equipment merited sympathetic consideration.
