FUNDS REQUIRED
TERRITORIAL ASSOCIATION
The need for obtaining funds in order (o carry on the work of the New Zealand Territorial Association (Northern Command) was emphasised last night when the annual meeting of the association was held. Mr. J. Ewen was in the chair. The report recorded a reduction in activities and in financial assistance to men in the forces, due to the elimination of all profits on goods sold. In the past such goods as cigarettes and chocolates had been purchased from merchants and sold at retail prices. However, all these supplies had now to be bought from the Canteen Board at wholesale prices and sold at the same rates, leaving no profits for distribution. From these profits it had previously been possible to provide between 2000 and 3000 free meals a month to sick and wounded from overseas, and men leaving in drafts. The honorary secretary, Mr. B. Morris, said that in 1042 £570 derived as profits was handed back to units, but it was now impossible to do anvthing of this nature. Lieutenant-Colonel T. H. Dawson was re-elected chairman of the executive, and Mrs. E. M. Gould, vice-chairman. The executive committee was re-elected.
