TRAINS COLLIDE

THREE MEN INJURED

MAIN TRUNK LINE CRASH

Two goods trains collided near Taringamotu railway station, three miles north of Taumarunui, early th'is afternoon. The engines piled up and the trucks of both trains were telescoped. Three members of the train crews were injured, but, it is reported, only slightly. The injured men have been admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital. Scores of pigs, wild with panic, ran madly among the wreckage of the trains. There were no passengers on either train. It is reported that the track is so damaged and both trains are so shattered that the line will not be useable for perhaps two days. Express trains leaving Auckland and Wellington this afternoon and to-night will be diverted through the Okahukura junction and will., in consequence, arrive at their destinations two hours behind the scheduled time.
