SALE OF WHISKY
OFFENCE BY LABOURER A MONTH'S IMPRISONMENT Two charges of selling liquor without a license were brought against John Percival Collett (27), a labourer, who pleaded guilty to both when he appeared before Mr. J. Morling, S.M., in the Police Court to-day. Sub-Inspector Harley. said Collett, who was in a city hotel yesterday afternoon, approached three servicemen and offered to sell them a bottle of whisky. One of the servicemen bought the whisky, paying Collett £5. Later the purchaser complained about the quality of the whisky. Collett admitted selling two bottles of whisky on November 14 for £6 for each bottle, stating that he had sold it on behalf of another man. Collett said he received £2 10/ for his part of the transaction.
On one charge Collett was sentenced to one month's imprisonment and on the other he was convicted and discharged.
