MALAYAN TIN GROUP Plans to reorganise wartime control and to provide for rehabilitation of the tin industry in Malaya are proposed by the large group of AngloOriental tin dredging companies. The companies include Jelapang, Kampong, Lanjut, Kramat, Kuala Kampar, Kundang, Larut, Rawang Concessions and Rawang. Meetings of shareholders to be held in London in February will be asked to set up new boards which will bo able to function freely in London to protcct the companies' assets outside enemy territory and their interests in resuming the industry in Malaya, where control will be retransferred after the war. The directors hope, when the registered offico is set up in London, to arrange for shareholders whose shares are. on the Malayan register to* be enabled to deal witrr their shares. Although no accounts since ly-iu could be prepared, the companies' financial position so far as is known is set out. J. C. WILLIAMSON ACCOUNTS Profit of J. C. Williamson, Ltd., for the year ended June 30 is £28,405, an increase of £13,443 on the year. Ordinary dividend is raised from 1 per cent to 2 5-8 per cent, requiring £9844, and 6 per cent preference dividend absorbs £10,200. Gross profit was £53,555 (£34,3b2 last year), and expenses £24,150 (£19,400). Aggregate accounts of six subsidiary companies show a profit of £699, compared with £20.674 the previous year. No proportion of the profits and losses have been brought into account in arriving at profit of J. C. Williamson, Ltd. GRAIN, SEED AND PRODUCE The following is the official wholesale market report of the Auckland Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants' Association'—A small shipment ol wheat is being distributed. Fair stocks are held in store and are moving out at 7/4 to 7/6 a bushel. Supplies of maize are still difficult ouing to lack of shipping. For whole maize the Prices aro 7/10 to 8/1 a bushel, and for kibbled 8/1 to 8/4 The South Island market for oats is very firm and the demand is steady. Prices through store range from 5/6 to 5/9 a bushel. Fair stocks of chaff are held by merchants and arc moving out quietly at £13 to £14 a ton. There is a steady inquiry for undipped barley, which is selling through store at 5/3 to 5/6 a bushel, with machine-dressed and clipped at 6/ to 6/5. Stocks of Australian barleymeal arc still available and are selling through store at £il 10/ to £12 5/ a ton, with New Zealand-grown meal at £12 10/ to £13 5/ a ton. There is no advice of any shipments of stockmeal; tne demand is being met through store at from £11 2/3 to £11 17/6 a ton. AT THE MARTS HEAVY PRODUCE SUPPLIES Heavy quantities of seasonal vegetables were selling at cheaper rates at the city markets to-day. This applied especially to asparagus, cabbages, cauliflowers and lettuce. Green peas are now more plentiful with prices lower. New potatoes are also ample to meet the demand. Rhubarb was in good supply. Berry fruits were in keen demand and choice strawberries made from 3/ to 4/6 a chip. Tomatoes met with good inquiry. Prices were:— Fruit. —Tomatoes. LARGE TAXATION BILL Speaking at the annual meeting of the Bruce Woollen Manufacturing Co., Ltd. at Milton (Otago), the chairman, Mr. F. L.
