Training was on the No. 2 grass, which was in good order. Volifox went well over half a mile, which she left behind in 50 4-ss. It was the best over the distance up till the interval. British Mint hit out in good stvle throughout five furlongs in 1.4. He ran the first two furlongs in 24 3-ss, and came home in solid style. Kiatere Maati was sent six furlongs being timed to run the last five in 1.4 1-5. He also impressed by his effort. Other gallops were:— Three furlongs: Kotiri Kino and Rampant, 30 3-ss; Default beat Royal Moer 40 :;-ss; Alazon Bay beat Happy Vaals, 41 l-ss. Four furlongs: Kronos, 52 2-ss; Kraal, 52 3-os.
