THE HOUSE FAMINE
!„„■ ,° Moaner" accuses me of wantre l Deal the P'air Rents Act to--1 have never suggested v 5 act should be repealed, until L e "ouse famine has been met. but , - r e P ea 'ed or considerably mocnfied ins'de two years if the priu u b V, llder got a fair deal. Mr. noiland s suggestion to take the sales tax off all building material is a step in the right direction. The private builder can build a house at least 25 per cent cheaper than the Government, but he cannot issue new paper money to pay for it as the Government is doing. We are heading for disaster if this inflationary policy is continued; this has been clearly pointed out by the ex-gover-nor of the' Reserve Bank. It is not moaning to point out that the housing position will get worse and worse as long as present conditions are allowed to continue. E. STEVENSON.
