SWIMMING RECORD
TUCKER'S ATTEMPT FAILS On the eve of his 18th birthday, which puts him out of the intermediate class, R. Tucker, of the Mount Eden Swimming Club, made an attempt to lower the New Zealand 220 yards breaststroke record last evening at the Tepid Baths. Tucker was at a disadvantage in making his attempt when not in form and in cold water. He did not impress and was half a minute outside the record of 3.8 1-5 held by V. E. Vial, of Dunedin, and created last March.
