CAN YOU FORGET? THE LIQUOR TRADE IS AFRAID OF NATIONAL PROHIBITION. It wants you to forget the criminal part that liquor has played in the great war. It wants you to forget all the harm that liquor has caused in New Zealand. CAN YOU FORGET THE HORRORS OF HONGKONG? When drink-inflamed Japanese soldiers committed abominable atrocities, and British women paid the price in dishonour, blood, and tears. Horrors that made the world shudder. But you are asked fo forget, and vote continence of the stuff that caused such shocking atrocities. CAN YOU FORGET WHAT DRINK COST THE BRITISH FORCES IN FRANCE? Alcohol was largely responsible for the defeat of France. It cost France her liberty and the lives of thousands of her soldiers. Britain paid in the loss of thousands of British lives, the capture of thousands of British soldiers, the loss of all her war equipment. But you are asked to forget and vote continuance of the stuff that caused these tragedies. CAN YOU FORGET THE TRAGEDIES WHICH DRINK HAS CAUSED IN NEW ZEALAND? Murder, crime, accidents, immorality and other shocking evils. Remember, too, that the total cost of all the Government houses built in New Zealand amounts to £23,000,000, but New Zealand has.wasted £40,000,000 on drink while the nation is at war. But you are asked to vote continuance and forget the evils and waste caused by drink. YOU ARE TOLD THAT PROHIBITION FAILED IN AMERICA. That is not true Prohibition achieved wonderful successes, and saved thousands of lives. Prohibition is coming back in America. State after State is going dry. 23,000,000 people are living in Prohibition districts in America, and the number keeps on increasing. YOU ARE TOLD THAT PROHIBITION WAS DEFEATED BY THE LARGEST MAJORITY EVER RECORDED. That is not true. Out of 60,000,000 electors only 14,811,529 vote for repeal. Less than 25 per cent, of the electors. DON'T FORGET THE HARM THAT LIQUOR HAS CAUSED. Add your vote to the 263,000 New Zeafanders who voted for National Prohibition at the last poH. Don ! t waste your vote on State Control. Don't put self-indulgence before Nat.onal welfare. STRIKE OUT THE TWO TOP LINES
