FATE OF WOMAN
BODY UNDER WHARF
IDENTITY ESTABLISHED
At about 10.10 this morning the body of a young woman, found under Prince's wharf, was recovered by the police and taken to the morgue. The body, which was that of a woman of about 20 years of age, had not long been in the water. It was clothed, except for undergarments.
An earlier discovery was made to-day, when, at 2.30 a.m. a woman's hat and bag were found on the launch steps near Queen's wharf. Whether these belonged to the woman whose body was found was a matter that had not been definitely ascertained early this afternoon by detectives assigned to the inquiry. It was learned to-day that a woman who lives in Mount Eden last night reported to the city police that her daughter, aged about 20, who was employed at a city clothing factory, had not returned home. ■' Later it was reported that the body had been identified as that of Una Elizabeth Reid, aged 21, single, who lived with her mother at Bridge Flats, Dominion Road. A post-mortem examination of the body was made this afternoon. An inquest will be opened. The post-mortem examination revealed that there was no evidence of foul play.
