CEILING PRODUCE PRICES

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Ceiling retail and wholesale prices for pumpkins, kumaras and silver beet at various seasons of the year are established by a price order gazetted to-day. The prices of kumaras and silver beet are controlled for the whole 12 months, but for pumpkins control is lifted during November to February inclusive, because at this time they are a luxury available only in small quantities and there are ample supplies of other vegetables. The maximum prices for the North Island are as follows:—Kumaras. February to July: Retail, 4d per lb; wholesale, 27/ per cwt. August-January: sd, 33/. Silver Beet, FebruaryApril: Retail, 3 J wholesale, 20/. May-October: sd, 30/. November-January: 4d, 25/. Pumpkins, March-July: Retail, 2 3 / 4 d f wholesale 18/. August: 3V 2 d, 24/. September: 4 1 ,2 d, 30/. October: Slid, 36/.
