WAIKATO PRIZE-MONEY HAMILTON, Tuesday. Stakes totalling £3950 are provided for in the programme drawn up by the Waikato Racing Club for the spring meeting at Te Rapa on November 20. No race will be worth less than £400. The Waikato Cup, one mile and a half, has been increased to £1000 and the Cambridge Handicap, seven furlongs, to £600. WELLINGTON CUP WORTH £4150 WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Wellington Racing Club has increased the stakes for its summer meeting, to be held at Trentham in January, by £4700 over last year. The prize for the Wellington Cun has been raised from £3000 to £4150 ar,d the Telegraph Handicap from £1000 to £1500. On the second day the Racing Club Handicap has been Increased from £1500 to £2500 and the Metropolitan Handicap from £1000 to £1500. All other races have been raised by £100 to £200. RECOVERED FROM INJURY After being laid aside for several months the apprentice, Stuart Waddell, is riding work again at Awapuni, but will not resume race riding right away. FOR STUD DUTIES The five-year-old mare Royal Melody, by Hunting Song from Queenstown, has been sold by Mr. J. Priscott, of Hamilton, to Mr. J. H. Grigg, of Longbeach, Canterbury. Royal Melody, which is to be used, for stud purposes, showed promise during her racing career, but though she was in the money on several occasions she never won outright. BLACK MAJESTY RETIRED The brilliant sprinter Black Majesty has retired from the turf and goes to the stua. In all Black Majesty contested 52 everus during his five years' racing for 12 wins, seven seconds, four thirds and 29 t raes unplaced, and his winnings amounted to more than £2000. G. W. B. Greene trained him throughout his racing career. IVAR AS HURDLER Ivar has done a fair amount of ing in private, but has yet to race hurdles. His owner-trainer, Mr. JHennah, has given no intimation when he intends starting the Bcau Pcn'e g in a hurdle race, but in all probability it will be at the Hawke's Bay springmee Ing, to be held at Hastings on the iirst Saturday in October.
