SOLDIER SETTLEMENT

(0.C.) WHANGAREI, this day.. A conference attended by delegates from every Returned Services' Association branch in Northland was held in Whangarei to discuss rehabilitation. A motion favouring the granting of tenure desired by individual servicemen settling on the land was carried. The conference expressed the opinion by resolution that the Government should favourably consider as a major part of its land settlement policy for Northland the acquisition of undeveloped blocks of arable land for ex-servicemen, and that development should be under the supervision of local rehabilitation committees, the farmer members of which should have practical experience in bringing in similar classes of land.
