HARBOUR BRIDGE

The harbour bridge would have been built and in use except for the war, declared Mr. H. T. Gibson, chairman of the Waitemata County Council, answering a question at yesterday's meeting. Mr. Gibson, who is deputy chairman of the Harbour Bridge Company, said the Australian contractors were keeping in touch with the company, and its plant and staff of experts would be available immediately the war was over. The building of ■ the bridge would give employment to many hundreds of men, and was one of the major works which could be put in hand without delay after the war.
