To the audience to-day they were "Slim" "Snow" and "Sue." The local songs presented were "When He Returns," by C. J. Hauxwell who sang his own number, "Hitler's Swastika." a humorous number by Mrs. L. Cumberworth, and a rousing war song "Eighth Army," by H. H Moller. of New Plymouth. The music of each was printed on the song sheets, so that the public could join in, and afterwards they slipped their votes for the best song in a box. At the end of the year, a £50 prize will be awarded the best song.
