YOUTH ESCAPES
DASH PAST GUARD
(0.C.) TE AROHA, this day. Absconding from police custody at 7 o'clock last night, Tony Barbarich, aged 17*, is at large. The youth had been under Child Welfare supervision, and after being missed from a farm where he was employed, was arrested for suspected breaking, entering and theft from a store at Waitoa. His escape was made by dashing past the policeman who was issuing him with bedding for the night. The youth, who eluded all pursuit, is of swarthy complexion. A MaoriDalmatian, he is sft 9m in height and of medium build. He was wearing a light grey suit under a dark blue overcoat at the time of his escape.
