WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

MISS KANE RETIRING After four years in the position, Miss Amv Kane, Dominion president of the Women's Institutes m New Zealand, is retiring. At the North Island conference of the institutes which has just ended in Gisborne, a presentation was made to Miss Kane, mention being made of the excellent way she has filled the post.

On behalf of the people of Gisborne, the Mayor. Mr. N. H. Bull, welcomed Miss Kane, members of the Dominion executive and delegates Others who welcomed the visitors were Mrs. F. E. Humphreys, Poverty Bav Federation president, and representatives of the Poverty Bay provincial executive of the W D.F.U., the Poverty Bay women's representative committee, Gisborne Rotary Club, Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, and Gisborne Thirty Thousand Club.
