APPEAL BY FIRM PAILS 1 A young man who had been released from the army was the 1 subject of an appeal by his employ- " ers, Carter and Watt, against a direc--1 tion to return to his work in the ■ Post and Telegraph Department, " heard by the Auckland Industrial 3 Manpower Committee yesterday. The " assistant manpower officer, Mr. T. G. - Fielder, said that when the employee, 5 A J Horton, was released from the r army he expressed a wish not to 1 return to the Post Office. He was perT mitted to go to his present occupa--3 tion When the Post Office authorities heard that he had been released, 5 application was made for his return, i and he was accordingly directed back. Evidence was given by Mr. W. A. 3 Craig, representing the Post and 3 Telegraph Department, that Horton 1 was a mechanician and his services . were needed. Mr. R. 3. Burt con- - tended that Horton would be doing routine work in the Post Office =• whereas he was engaged m special - munition work at present. The appeal was dismissed. ' " ===== I
