BOARD'S RECEPTION
SOIiDIER-TRAMWAYMBN Eighteen returned soldiers from the Middle East—former employees of the Auckland Transport Board— were entertained by the board this morning at a reception marked by informality. In short speeches of welcome made by the chairman, Mr. W. H. Nagle, the deputy-chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, and the manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, the men were told of the honour in which they were held by the board and staff, and of the warmth of the welcome with which they were received back. The hope was expressed that the war would end soon enough to prevent the "furlough men" being recalled to the Middle East. Thanks were returned by the men, who then mingled with the board members while a variety of refreshment was offered.
