"SPRING CLEANING"
PLAY AT HIS MAJESTY'S There were plenty of laughs at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday night when the Athenaeum Dramatic Company presented Frederick Lonsdale's three-act comedy, "Spring Cleaning." There was also a message for husbands who neglect wives and wives who neglect husbands. Sound all-round acting was a feature of the presentation. Outstanding was Mollie Donald as the wife. Leo O'Malley was dryly humorous as the husband and author. His foil, the familiarly nonchalant play boy, was responsible for some of the heartiest laughs, and Frederick Johnson was also delightfully at home here. Evelyn Pirani, in her mediating role of the wayward girl, injected comedy into her moralising, and gave evidence of considerable stage experience. Two of the other characters had their lines at times drowned by the laughs from preceding comedy sequences. Mr. Leslie Watson was the producer, and Mr. John Farrell house manager.
